Minister: Russia to route Web traffic via Asia if cut in Europe

MOSCOW, Jun 7 (PRIME) -- Russia will re-route Internet traffic through Asia if the country is disconnected from European exchange points, Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadayev said on Tuesday at a forum.

“We have plan B: to redirect traffic via Asia through a different side in case of entire disconnection in Europe of the Russian operators from international traffic exchange points. Rostelecom as the main long-haul operator has such a plan,” Shadayev said.

The minister added that there have been incidents of cutting off the Russian operators at international Internet exchange points.
